Black holes, MeV gamma rays, neutrinos, and the lunar radiation environment: our group works on high-energy astrophysics through both theory and multi-messenger observations (see Research). Whatever position you are interested in, feel free to reach out by email. Lab visits and online chats are always welcome.

Postdocs

Our lab can host JSPS Postdoctoral Fellows, and we welcome discussions of research proposals. Researchers from abroad can apply through the JSPS International Fellowship programs; our group has hosted international JSPS fellows before. We are also happy to discuss hosting under other fellowship schemes.

Graduate students (MSc / PhD)

We accept graduate students through the Graduate School of Engineering and Science at Shibaura Institute of Technology. Applicants from other universities and from abroad are welcome: there is no restriction on nationality (beyond the standard export-control screening), and you can work entirely in English in our group.

  • Timing for April 2027 entry: the pre-application consultation with the PI closes on 30 October 2026 (applications close in late November; entrance exam on 23 January 2027). Please email us by early October 2026.
  • Financial support (PhD):
    • SIT Scholarship for Foreign Graduate Students: full tuition waiver plus JPY 142,000/month, renewable annually up to three years. Applied for separately from admission (in December for an April start). Other internal scholarships are listed under “Scholarship for Doctor’s program” on the guidelines page (AY2027 Spring entries appear in mid-September)
    • JST SPRING program: about JPY 2M/year plus research funds (first-year PhD students only; applied for around admission)
    • Research-assistant (RA) positions funded by the lab’s JST FOREST grant
    • These schemes generally do not stack, but a strong candidate typically ends up fully covered
  • Tuition for reference: about JPY 841,800/year
  • Research topics range from theory and simulations to observational data analysis, and are chosen together based on your interests

Undergraduate students

Our lab belongs to the College of Systems Engineering and Science. Undergraduate research assignments are announced through guidance sessions, and cross-departmental research assignments are also possible, so students from other departments and courses are welcome to get in touch. If you are curious about space and physics, feel free to talk to us even before the assignment period.
